Equine Touch Plus+ – empowering the horse’s natural healing ability

Touch Plus+ treatments combine a healing technique (based on the ancient Japanese Reiki system) with massage, and also psychology and animal behaviour observations.  It can be used on all animals but I specialise in horses and ponies;  it is a completely non-invasive and natural therapy to which most animals openly, positively and quickly respond.

· Canine stroke - "You were given a sad, lifeless dog who was dying;  you handed me back a perky, waggy dog who regained the use of his eyesight and paralysed eye-lid.  Would I recommend Touch Plus+?  Without a doubt!"

· Sarcoid - "After one treatment, it went down (reduced by c3 inches)...the Vet's intrigued!"

· Cushing's Syndrome - "In two treatments, my 23 year old has found his 'old' character again...and he's suddenly teaching himself Parelli!"

· Bolting, kicking, biting - "I'd struggled for two years, but Touch Plus+ suddenly changed him - even if I don't understand how it works, something 'works wonders';  I cannot recommend Touch Plus+ enough...for horses and humans!"

· Spinning, bucking, napping - "In just one month, he's turned from a dangerous ride to a delight;  must try him hunting now!"

· 'Dropped Hip' - "In only four visits my racehorse's hip was corrected - he's now in full training"

Touch Plus+ combines the laying on of hands with gentle massage, which when applied at key points, stimulates the horse’s natural ability to obtain and/or maintain finely-tuned mental tranquility and inner 'good health'.  Additionally I provide observations on each animal based on a psychology and animal behaviour viewpoint.  As with humans, when in a state of contentedness and calm (without sacrificing alertness and competitive edge), our body is able to function at its optimum level…..stress it or introduce pain and discomfort on too frequent a basis, and the body soon starts to show ‘cracks’ in other areas…..creating knock-on ill-health.

Until you see this style of healing in action, I appreciate it’s hard to accept there can be any truth in the above statements – I too was once a skeptic!  But, in an attempt to explain how it works, I use the following:

Can you feel the wind?         YES.

Can you see the wind?          NO.

So because we cannot see the wind, do we deny its presence?            OF COURSE NOT!

Touch Plus+ is similar.  Take a look at a horse receiving treatment and it can give skeptics a pretty hard time!

Animal Products & Assistance - fodders, behaviourist, judge

In my previous worlds I've always been known for 'researching' ideas and then freely making that research available to my clients.  One issue which has troubled me for some years is what we now feed our animals and the possible connection to increases in skin, behavioural and other issues.  Therefore, on my investigations I have found some companies which seem to offer 'enlightened' products (some still under trial), some actually going 'back in time' to ingredients that have worked for years and do not rely on flavorings, chemicals etc,.  I detail them in case you might find some/all useful and if it saves you time;  the findings are not meant as 'definitive' studies so please satisfy your own requirements accordingly with your own research.

Additionally I like to make myself available to ‘give back’ to events by offering for instance, my experience in fence-judging at local, Pony Club and British Equestrian events (BE qualified), dressage judging and writing, or helping out with the administration.   If you need some help at your event, please contact me.

Please click here for more details on feedstuffs and giving back.

The trial for Stop-it-All a totally natural oil mixture which includes Neem tree seeds has been completed (May 2007) and the results are pretty exciting.  We tested the mixture on ALL the following - sweet-itch, flies & biting creatures, mud-fever, rain-scald, open sores, against mites and ticks, and for for hair growth.

"This product should be on the ESSENTIALS LIST of every horse owner"

About me - the equestrian years

From 3 years old I was almost permanently glued to a pony or horse and progressed from highly entertaining entries within Fancy Dress classes to represent Great Britain at two Under 21 Junior European Dressage Championships by the age of 17, with the British Olympics in Los Angeles as my goal.  Prior to focusing on Dressage, I had been aiming at the Junior European Eventing team…..but a fall from my horse who had a heart attack as we took off over a fence when I was just 13, put paid to my cross-country abilities, leaving me to focus on Dressage and Show Jumping which subsequently became a huge passion.  Whilst I trained mostly in the UK, after winning the Dalgetty Spillers Dressage Scholarship plus a Lloyds Bank Equestrian Year Scholarship, it allowed me and my top two horses Kanzler and Lord Richard, to train in Germany in the quest to replicate that country’s renowned success!

The Summerhill team were based in the New Forest and led by Alison Ruggles (a Grade ‘A’ Show Jumper and trained by John Sheddon), funded and supported by John Ruggles (ex Olympic yachtsman) and its vision was to encourage youngsters to achieve their goals using lateral thinking and training methods on a limited budget. Whilst I’ve already mentioned what I achieved in the years when I was riding, my sister Suzi was also very successful, being on the short-list for the Junior European Eventing team prior to a nasty accident in heavy mud at the selection trials.  Along the way we were joined by a string of students both from the UK and from overseas and one in particular who trained at Summerhill was Jackie Stolper (nee King), who currently competes at top levels.

Suzi, Jackie and I proved a ‘useful’ team in 1980 winning the British National Pony Club Dressage Team Championships on three of the Summerhill horses as well as my leading horse Kanzler and I winning the overall Individual National Championships.  Kanzler also set a record in that year by qualifying for five sections in one year (from Novice to Prix St Georges) of the Taylor Woodrow National Dressage Championships through careful management of the points system and a sudden break-through in his mental state and thus training capabilities.  If we hadn’t been competing at the Junior European Dressage Championships in Germany we would have had our chance at trying for the seemingly impossible goal of all 5 titles….!  To top off 1980, I was lucky enough to qualify Lord Richard and Stahlberg for the Dalgetty Spillers Novice Combined Training championships with Lord Richard becoming the National Champion at the finals held in front of the huge crowds and spotlights of the Horse of The Year Show.

But fate was to play a cruel card in 1981 when my health finally cracked for good and I ended up in hospital for a long time, finally forcing me to face facts and accept enforced retirement from all riding pursuits.

  From then to now

Nil (illegitimi) carborundum – (mock Latin for don’t let them get you down!) and Carpe Diem (seize the day) – two expressions with which I’m especially familiar!

After I recovered sufficiently, I left the equestrian world and have been involved in many industries since including commodities, management recruitment, military supplies trading, race team management, mergers and acquisitions, financial marketing, PR and sponsorship, journalism, offshore investment advisory, market research and for around 14 years, a passionate involvement in all things Porsche, primarily from my Directorship at the internationally recognised racing and heritage Porsche restoration company Autofarm.  More recently, I developed Touch Plus+ prior to founding Stop-it-All natural products.

I’ve lived in Australia, Africa, the Scottish Highlands and recently moved to the more ‘laid-back’ and naturally inspiring county of Somerset.  As you can see I have a diverse background and my goal is always to find a ‘balance’ between the cerebral facets of life and the nourishing and gentle opportunities that come my way.
